Abandoned industrial areas are left at the borders of visual field as spaces that are barely noticed during a walk through the city. The same happens in the brain: there are abandoned, unused zones that go unnoticed: lost memories or unknown faculties. L’ombra delle frequenze investigates the possibility of connecting with these abandoned areas.
“Using the keyword cronovisore , a machine for viewing past events invented in the 1960s by an Italian priest, we have found videos on the Internet where telepresences haunt frequencies and neural networks wander in beautiful landscapes of urban blight trying to establish a contact; they call to reactivate the abandoned areas of the brain.
We set up a TV station in a technology dump inside the Alumix factory in order to concentrate these interferences. Down there, between the fragments of a shattered present, something is alive and needs our energy to be released from the shadow of frequencies.” CandidaTV
CandidaTV is an extended group emerging from various self-managed organizations: rave parties, street theater, radio and BBS. Since 1999 it has promoted an unmediated approach towards media: “Make your own TV.”
